Qigong

 

Qigong, or Chi Kung, is an ancient Oriental health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. The origins of Chi Kung are directly connected to nature, where Chinese farmers were observing the natural flow of animals and resembling their movements to nurture their bodies and achieve wellbeing.

Chi Kung can be considered the oldest known Somatic practice, where focused training would foster deep awareness of the body, same as of the “Chi”, which refers to the Vital Energy that is in all of us. Chi Kung practices can be classified as Martial, Medical, or Spiritual. The practice of Chi Kung has the aim of achieve internal and external balance, as shown in the Yin/Yang Symbol, and involves standing-still postures, dynamic movements, and breathing techniques practiced in full awareness.

Chi Kung can be adapted to all age groups and all levels of fitness and mobility, and the calmness and mindful intent added into movements and breathing techniques of the gentle Yang style it makes of it a genuine meditative practice for body and mind. At same time the application of certain principles and techniques in martial arts, by working on tendons, muscles, and physical body strength, enhances the inner power and makes of the Bagua Zhang or the Viet Vo Dao 5 Animals Chi Kung an effective workout for high levels of fitness

The numerous styles of Chi Kung offer the possibility to develop deep awareness of our own Vital Energy that can be used not only to promote self healing, but also as tool for Holistic Practitioners and Healers to help others. Used by many professionals as a practice for self-care and wellbeing, it can bring positive changes to all aspects of life.
