Trauma Release through Somatic Experience
An event becomes a trauma when overwhelming emotions are happening, and memories are not properly processed. Memories are stored in the entire organism: body, mind, and spirit, so our subjective experience always has a bodily and mental component.
In order to overcome these feelings and emotions, a person has to change habitual patterns and somatic loops that connect sensations to memories through actions. A sheltered state to observe and support this process needs to be created, where is possible to intervene in the space between thoughts and actions, using physical awareness as key component of re-learning.
Becoming aware of inner sensations, our primordial feelings, allow us to access direct experiences ranging from pain to pleasure. While investigating new ways of moving, breathing, and engaging with the environment and with others, can help the nervous system to reorganize itself, creating new healthy patterns.
The session of 'Trauma Release through Somatic' builds on these principles, where the role of the Facilitator is to support the person in the process of self healing. A session involves guided Somatic Practices, Authentic Movement, Dynamic Meditation techniques, and Bodywork, to foster awareness and alleviate traumas and blockages.
